Darbhanga with rich heritage

Lakshmiwar Palace
Lakshmiwar Palace which is now , also known as Sanskrit university is the most beautiful palace in the campus. This was the residence of king Lakshmiwar Singh. The palace is painted in red through out and occupies a gigantic space in campus. Now it is also the residence of the VC of the Sanskrit University.

Rambaag Fort
This fort is situated along the road joining bus stand to Bhagat Singh Chowk. Years have passed but it still stands with valor and majestic outlook. This pride of Darbhanga, was built by the last king Kameshwar Singh somewhere between 1944-1945. The fort could not be completed due to some reasons. Kankaali Temple and Rambaag palace is located inside this fort.

Bela Palace
Bela Palace situated near the bus stand , is the most beautiful palace in today’s date. This palace was constructed by king Kameshwar Singh for his brother Vishweshwar singh. This palace is surrounded by lush green location which looks very beautiful. Now a days this palace has been made the Training Center for the postal and telegraph department A must to visit place in Darbhanga.

Darbhanga Museum
To save the cultural heritage of Darbhanga, Darbhanga Museum was established by the government of Bihar. The Museum contains belongings of the kings of Khandavala dynasty. It has beautiful paintings of 17th and 18th century, antiques statues, coins, documents, guns, stuffed animals etc. There is also a separate block in Museum which deals the belongings of the last king Kameshwar Singh. There is no entry fee for the Museum.
